There once was a girl who loved baking...

She loved to bake treats off all shapes, sizes, colours and flavours. What started as a hobby soon became a passion - from tarts to teacakes, sugarcraft to choux, no bake was too big nor detail too small.

Poor baked beans were at a loose end as the sole food cupboard in a one bedroom flat was swamped with increasingly unheard of flours and sugars, and scavenger hunts for liquid glucose and orange blossom extract in New Cross became a regular occurrence.

Perhaps icing sugar had literally settled on her mind after a particularly vigorous sieving, but if it had then it was stuck there for good. She had become half-girl, half-icing.

Then one day her lovely husband suggested that it would be wise to start a blog in order to share her ideas with the internet roaming folk. And so, thanks to his wise words, I am very pleased to say hello to you all (yes, that's right, the girl was ME all along - quite the twist, I'm sure you'll agree). I hope you enjoy reading this blog as much as I enjoy writing it!

Serving recommendation: enjoy this blog with a generous helping of ice cream or lashings of custard
